About The Role
We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our Adult Mental Health service at The Huntercombe Hospital, Eldertree Lodge, located approximately 6 miles from Market Drayton and just 11 miles from Stoke-on-Trent and within one mile from the A53.

Eldertree Lodge is a High Dependency Inpatient Rehabilitation Services for people with Learning Disabilities, that provides specialist assessments, treatments and rehabilitation for adults with intellectual disabilities, mental health needs, autistic spectrum disorders, including those with varying degrees of challenging behaviours and forensic histories. The Hospital has 46 beds spread across six wards.

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our Multidisciplinary team and provide specialist support to our Adult Mental Health Service.

You will have:

At least 3 year experience in psychiatry – essential
Section 12 approved- desirable
Experience in LD/ASD -desirable
MRCPsych –desirable

As a Specialty Doctor your main duties will be:

Clinical Duties

• To be directly involved in the treatment of those referred to the service, particularly in respect to the use of medication
• Being involved in the assessment and management of urgent referrals and/or ward referrals
• Participating in devising plans of action using a variety of therapeutic approaches
• Having an awareness of the special expertise of different disciplines within the Service in order that the most appropriate help is provided for through consultation and/or active involvement of a worker from a different discipline
• Taking part in a first on-call rota shared with Consultants where appropriate


Quality and Clinical Leadership


• Participating in the process of referral and admission both routine and emergency including preadmission assessment
• Contributing to specialist meetings for the services provided at the hospital and contributing to the development of service strategy
• Participating in case based discussion (CBD’s) for the purposes of their appraisal and re-validation as well as present academic papers and other areas of special interest at a weekly academic seminar currently arranged by the Medical Director


Clinical Governance


• Contributing to the development and evaluation of services in collaboration with the Lead Consultant, Director of Clinical Services and Head of Nursing and Quality
• Taking part in medically related audits child and adolescent Psychiatrists
