About The Role


Assistant Psychologist – Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre 37.5 hours per week (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre is an award-winning 47 bed centre providing specialist person-centred assessments, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with an acquired brain injury or other complex neurological condition including behaviours that challenge. The centre is located in Lanarkshire just off the M8, with easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh. We employ staff in a variety of different roles and provide on-going support with comprehensive training, learning and development opportunities.

Main responsibilities of the Assistant Psychologist are:
• To work under the supervision of a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist.

• Provide support to qualified Clinical Psychologist staff in their assessment, treatment, research, teaching and audit activities.

• To assist with psychological assessments intended to help formulate patients' presenting problems and then inform care planning and risk management procedures.

• To help support individual or group treatment.

• To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

• To contribute to service evaluation, research and policy development and to provide consultation as/when appropriate, as well as further promoting the service.

• Exercise autonomous professional responsibility based on Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics specific to own profession and company policies.

In order to achieve this our Assistant Psychologist should have:

First Degree in Psychology of 2:1 or above
Eligible for Graduate Membership of BPS
Highly motivated, resourceful and enthusiastic
A prior experience desirable but not essential

Your role will be pivotal within this team. This exciting role will mean you are responsible for working as a key part of the multidisciplinary team providing services throughout the facility.
